Exploring Romans sur Isère, la Drôme

We went to the city where Aldy spent one year of his highschool year, Romans.

It’s a small and simple town with very few population.  It’s 30 minute drive from St Michel sur Savasse.  It took only 1,5 hours just to go around about the town.  We saw Mamie and Papou’s old house, the school, the main landmarks, and then shop for some groceries.

The main point that stood out from this city  was this river which divided the city, sur Isere.  I also love the old buildings the city has. Some of them were dated back from the mid centuries.

The city has an old neighborhood, situated along the river and around la Tour de Jacquemart- one of the city’s landmarks: a time tower with a big bell and a statue of a man wearing blue pants called Jacques at the top of the tower, that rings every hour (Jacques hits the bell !). Too bad, the small shops in the city center are closing, Mamie said there isn’t  any good business environment anymore.

Anyhow, Aldy was pretty excited to relive his memories in the city. Especially when we met the father of a girl he had a crush on who lives next door of Mamie’s old house!
