(Not) long time ago, I was on top of a cheerleaders’ pyramid. It was pretty epic though considering we had only few weeks of practice and we weren’t a professional cheerleaders at all.
Why on earth we did this?
Every year, some of the big law firms in Jakarta organised an annual friendly sport competition for the lawyers which include soccer, tennis, basketball, futsal, tug of war, ping pong, karaoke, and yes, cheer-leading. This annual event is suppose to be fun gathering events for all the lawyers and it’s almost like a reunion. I mean we pretty much know each other, either from transactions, a case, or same school, or a friend of a friend – it’s a small world. However, like most of the participants, we tend to be very competitive and pretty serious about this whole thing (naturally, we’re a lawyer after all).
We hire a professional cheerleader to be our couch, did our practice every day after office hour, and scream from the top of our lung like we are a truly cheerleader – we are dynamite, don’t mess with dynamite!
Unfortunately, we didn’t won this, other teams were better, but we had a blast!
