Mecca, the city that never sleeps

[the Grand Mosque of Masjidil Harram – the Kiblat]

After a transit in Dubai, and then Medina, we finally arrived in Mecca!

If people say New York is a city that never sleeps, well obviously they never been to Mecca. Mecca is always a busy city, any day of the year.   As you can see from the picture below, Masjidil Harram – the central of Mecca is always full of people come and go during days and nights, non-stop.

During the Hajj season, the crowd will be doubled up because Medinah and Mecca are hosting approximately 3 million people during the Hajj season.

In Mecca, other than praying 5 times a day in the Mosque, we also did additional ritual such as tawaf (encircling the Kaabah) and sai’ (running between Safa and Marwa hills).

Mecca has always been a great experience, watching thousands and thousands of people coming from all over the world with the same destination and determination as you have in your heart, solemnly or crying out loud in between prayers, and put away the worldly identity and become the humble human being.

It was just such an indescribable feeling.
