A staycation (a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”) is a period in which an individual or family stays home and participate in leisure activities within driving distance, sleeping in their own beds at night. Wikipedia.

Nowadays, staycation has evolved to a more vacation spent in a different part of the same city style. Make trips to local tourist sites, swimming venues and club house, horseback riding, paintball, or visiting museums and spent a night in the hotel or villa or relatives’ house. For parents who usually work during the weekday, staycation could be a good alternative to spend family quality time on the weekend despite the cost and bureaucracy in taking day leaves from the office.

Last week, i was taking the family for a staycation in a resort-like environment and the perk is, only 30-40 minutes drive from our home in Jakarta. Where? Aryaduta Lippo Village, Karawaci. Situated in a lush green environment and walkable surrounding, Aryaduta offers a magnificent resort feels with complete facilities for the whole family. We felt like woke up in a far away place from the city. The club house is often the main attraction for us. It consists of spa, jacuzzi, lagoon pool, kids club and the restaurant.

There are few types of room that could accommodate my family (mine are 1 years old and 2.5 years old very active daughters), Deluxe room, Deluxe Cabana, Signature Room, Cabana Suite, Business Suite and Presidential Suite. We chose Business Suite for the size wise. It has a separate living room and the bedroom is still spacious even though we had a baby cot inside. Our room is located in the main building, however if you’d like to feel even more like staying in a resort, you could try the cabanas. They are separated from the main building and looks like a villa with its own entrance and balcony, but beware of the rainy season, you might have to use umbrella here and there.

For the price wise, it is all worth it. Breakfast is vary and all delicious for your morning booster. All staffs greeted us (and our kids too!) friendly as well. Minor issue for us is the old furnitures for such a luxury hotel, but that’s not a big deal as we mostly spent time outside the room and the kids were too happy. We especially want to highlight the lagoon pool in the club house (they have other swimming pool near the main building). It has water slide, kids pool, 1.2m and Olympic size pool. Kids club is also nice to spend time with. Hot jacuzzi is located inside the changing room but kids below 5 years old are forbidden. At the club house entrance you might need to register yourself and be given fluffy towels. There’s a cafe near the pool (so you can wave your hand from the pool to order and take a sip while swimming style!)

Surrounding is a walking and stroller friendly environment. We didn’t use our own car when we get there because eating places and malls are walking distance. On Saturday morning, Karawaci has Saturday Morning Walk, a car free day event. Oh and there’s this Maxx Junior at Maxx Cinema nearby. You should check that one! We will review Maxx Junior on a separate article.

Life is beautiful, right? Happy holistay!
